People live in a world where they're born with a certain number on their wrist that only appears at the age of 18 years old. The number found on your wrist is only on you and one other person in the world, and with this number, you can find your soulmate by the burning sensation you feel coursing through your veins until you finally make a connection with them. If you choose to be with anyone other than your soulmate, that is considered breaking one of three Inhumane Laws, and you are sent to the City of Misery.
The three Inhumane Laws include not being with anyone romantically other than your soulmate after you've turned 18, being with anyone of the same gender, and lastly bestiality is prohibited. Breaking these laws will get you sent to the City of Misery for the rest of your life where you will be enslaved, beaten, and tortured.
Andy Fowler is a boy who's turning 18 years old and has quite a few problems. His home life is not the best, and besides that fact, he thinks he's in love with another boy, Ryan Beaumont. Ryan Beaumont is the school's star football player but has quite a few dark secrets that no one knows about, one of which being that he's in love with the nerdy dork, Andy Fowler.
The amount of trials that come their way is incredulous, but how much are these boys willing to go through for love?
