Lindsay was a normal girl with a normal life in a normal city with a normal family that consisted of her mom, dad, and older brother. Until one terrible event killed her parents, made her move out of state to live with her new guardians, her grandparents, and made her lose her hearing. People always mistake her for being an outcast who just decides to ignore everyone. But that wasn't the case at all. 

The only people who truly understand what's going on with her are her grandparents, brother, boyfriend, and best friend. She's been best friends with Anthony since Kindergarten. He was only her friend. But when they enter high school, things start to change. He becomes popular and all of the friends he used to have aren't his friends anymore. It was only a matter of time until Lindsay wasn't his friend anymore either.

After an accident in eighth grade, Louisa Kelley was blind. Every day was a struggle for her as she tried to adjust to life both at school and at home, but life got easier with practice. As soon as Louisa entered high school, things had changed for the worse. The students around her bullied her because she was different, harassing her, stealing her things, and talking about her behind her back, making an already difficult life so much harder. Louisa and Alex weren't made for each other. Although the very presence of each other gives them new hope and strength, things are difficult as Louisa thrives by using her hearing, while Alex shies away from sound and uses sight. Without being able to communicate easily, they must learn to overcome the barrier of the silence between them, which is easier said than done. But aren't the struggles worth it to be with that one person that means everything?

She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote.
