THIS IS A CLEAN FAN FICTION! IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY MATURE CONTENT! (Like Smut cause I just don't do that)
Has a villain from a book ever haunted you? Have you ever thought they could be...real? No?
That's the same thing Lassie Andrews thought about her favorite book. Sure, millions of girls fawned over the mysterious Darkling, even though he was the evil villain. Lassie just didn't understand. She always leaned in with Alina. When a mysterious man dressed in a dark robe that looked like it belonged in Imperial Russia shows up in her life, Lassie is forced to take a closer look at her beloved book and the characters that seemed all to real. Because this time it might not just be Alina's freedom on the line. It could be hers.

A few days after Alina and I escaped the clutches of my brother, the former Ravkan general of the Second Army, Aleksander Kirigan, we parted ways. I went with Kaz Brekker and his gang of thieves, affectionately nicknamed the Crows, back to Ketterdam, while Alina Starkov and her friend, Mal Oretsev, left for other lands beyond the walls of Os Alta. In Ketterdam, I made a name for myself, aiding Kaz and the Crows in all manner of criminal behaviour, forgetting that I was ever the younger sister of the Black Heretic. But I've lost everything I've ever known. I don't know where my mother or my dear friend Genya is - sometimes, this new life is unfamiliar and uncomfortable, especially within the tight, damp spaces of Ketterdam, this sprawling criminal town that seems so big and yet so small. Or within the base of the Crows that I sometimes call home - or the feelings that I seem to feel for Kaz Brekker. Kaz and I still don't understand each other, and I don't think we ever will. Alina and Mal set off across the sea, and from what I heard, they were going in search of the second of Morozova's creatures, the Firebird. Alina hopes that with the help of the Firebird and the Stag as Grisha amplifiers, that she might be able to take down the Shadow Fold for good. I know that my brother, Aleksander Kirigan, did not die that day in the Fold, and that one day he would come to exact his vengeance upon his lost Sun Summoner and all of Ravka. As Kaz prepares to unleash fresh hell on old foes, and as Alina prepares to hopefully end the terror of the Darkling once and for all, I myself am preparing for a war on both sides. A war to protect my newfound friends and family, the Crows, and a war to protect my people, the Grisha.

A year after Alina Starkov tears down the Shadow Fold, she is finally able to settle into her peaceful life. There is no more war with Ravka. The Darkling, once her enemy, is now a loyal, protective husband, and a father to their adoptive daughter, Amelia. But all things must end. The Sun Summoner learns that a time of peace can become a time of chaos and upheaval in the blink of an eye. As quickly as one war ends, another can emerge. Alina must protect her country as Queen while making sure that the Darkling doesn't revert to his old villainous self, or else all they have built will come crashing down. This is a sequel to The True Saint, but can be read separately. The world is based off of the Shadow & Bone Netflix series/ books by Leigh Bardugo. Book cover art by: misticarts on tumblr ________ |PREVIEW| ------------- The Darkling raises his hand in a motion I know all too well. Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. "I will do anything in my power to protect you, my Dear Alina. Anything."

The Darkling just sits there and stares at me, observing me the way he always does. Moments pass, I become frustrated and snap at him. "Well? Are you going to yell at me? Hurt me? Tell me how you are the only one that I am equivalent to in my eternal life, so I should rely solely on you? He raises an eyebrow. "All of those would be sufficient options, but no." I scoff in response before asking, "then... what are you going to do with me?" He reaches out and traces the features of my jaw and face. He replies, "well that will depend on you." "Me?" I ask warily. He moves a strand of hair out of my face and continues to caress my cheek. "Yes," he exhales. "I don't want you to hate me, Alina. It is up to you to decide whether you want me to be your villain or your husband." #1 darklina 10/24 #1 shadowandbone 12/22 #1 fantasy-romance 2/24 #1 darkling 8/24
