Jaylyn May Hope and Axel Fletcher Alder have always led their perfect lives. Almost.

Jaylyn, now aged seventeen, comes from a family filled with love, hope, and trust. Having to deal with her father's untimely death at a young age left a lasting impression of what it is like to have loved and lost. When her mother passes away a few years later, she goes to live with her life long friend and his caring family.

Axel Alder has dealt with horrible nightmares in his short eighteen years of life. From the time he was born to the time his youngest sibling, Zoey, was born, Axel had suffered from abuse. Physical and emotional abuse from his demented father, Carl. When Carl and Axel's mother Jane got a divorce, they thought it was all over. Boy, were they wrong.

When Axel and Jaylyn finally admit their feelings towards each other, their lives get flipped around faster than you can say banana popsicles. Love, hate, trust, and friendship are just some of the obstacles Jaylyn and Axel have to go through to get to where they want. People come, and people go, but it's the ones who linger at the edge of your life that you need to worry about.

@meleatowsley writes the Axel chapter for this book (evens) and I, @isabella14224 , write the Jaylyn chapters for this book (odds).

Love. Love is such a strong word. Love is something you feel for someone you truly care about. Right? So is love ever possible to feel for someone that you hated so much for so long? Mikayla is a junior at Bristol High School in Bristol, Tennesee. She's sixteen, 5'4, plays softball and volleyball, and has a great and positive personality. However, her family has a lot of issues. Her dad is a depressed alcoholic who likes to take his anger out on Mikayla and her twin brother, Joey. Mikayla thinks sex and relationships are stupid. It's high school. She wants to lay back and be mature. However, will that ever change? I mean, high school is always rough and deceiving, right? Mikayla is an excellent student and makes amazing grades. However, she has competition. Daniel is Mikayla's competition. He plays quarterback on their school's football team. Typical, right? Well, Mikayla and Daniel have competed against each other for years. Daniel likes to push Mikayla down and make her feel like he's superior and better. Daniel is six-foot-something and handsome. He could pull any girl he wanted, however, he remains single. Is it his terrible personality? Or does he like being single? This story is about teenage love and the problems that you can encounter in high school. Mikayla and Daniel, head to-head, all the time. However, who will win overall? Who will be the bigger person and try to drop all of their immaturity and stupidity? TW and MATURITY WARNING: Drug use, SH, reference to sex, strong language throughout the story, depression, and family trauma.

I'm not here to write a romance with a happy ending, I'm writing to prove life isn't always perfect, in most cases it never is, especially when it comes to love. This is to prove that no matter how hard life gets, don't give up, don't push people away, stand up and show whoever or what ever it is that you aren't going to let them or it hinder who you are. Life is precious and we need to live it as we want to be, not as other people want us to be. Jane has been an outcast her entire life, she was orphaned at a young age and grew up without a family. When she turned 11, the Mavery's adopted her, for the past 6 years of her life she's been stuck living in their attic. They don't treat her like part of the family. Her stuck up step-mother Ana only ever points out her flaws, and Neal her step-father doesn't stop her. You'd think that would be enough to drive anyone over the edge, but now add the little 'brats' that torment her constantly. Cortlyn and Oscar. Cortlyn has always been jealous of Jane and her friendship with Adam, the boy next door. Oscar actually likes having another sister, but he always sides with his twin, he'd never admit to it. And Adam? He loves Jane, like loves, loves Jane, but of course she's completely clueless, after all it is her best friend...her only friend. But the real trouble starts when Jane finally stands up for her self, what's this crazy family going to do to her next? Like I said before life isn't perfect, you never know what's going to be thrown your way, neither does Jane.
