Kade's Cross

Seventeen-year-old, Kade Knight has been commissioned to work at such an early age. Because of her mom's condition, Kade decides to take it upon herself to pay for the hospital and house bills. Her step-father is not in the slightest, sub-standard. He is the manipulative, lethargic, and somnolent presence in the house who frequently sullies every object, piece of furniture, and food packet he lays his hands on. He could never-even with prayers or curses-summon enough concern to do anything remotely contributory. Kade, knowing that she has no other choice but to rely on herself, worked as a tutor and waitress. Not only does she act like the help in the household while her mom is in the hospital, she must also keep her grades above average. Kade has great pride in her academic and co-curricular standing. In school, she is viewed as one of the most intelligent and responsible. No one knows about Kade's double life-she's afraid she will lose the respect she's worked hard to earn once the truth is unraveled.
