A shadow flitted above the dark forest floor, swooping swiftly from one branch to another. The figure glanced up at the moon. It was locked away in darkness tonight, mirroring the dark obscurity of the trees.
There was going to be blood tonight. That much was inevitable.
The wind screamed past the mysterious character as it approached the small town. The horror and realization slowly sank in that the wind was the only thing that had been screaming.

"Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me.
