grayson is overwhelmed with his silent screaming mind, cautiously hiding behind the shield of the popular stereotypical one who gets everything his way.

mackenzie is the quiet introverted girl at the back row who always scribbles everything that goes through in her mind down, finding comfort in the unveiled truth of everything.

through late night vulnerable conversations about everything from underrated universal concepts and bad music tastes to ignorantly interpreting classical paintings, they vaguely fall for each other. but when mackenzie's life gets disturbed by a secret she never intended to do, she recklessly decides to leave everything behind and drive away to some far place for a long amount of time till she heals and finds herself again. but that was only what she has planned. she had never known that her car will slip in ice and her scribbled messy notebook would fall in grayson's hands while she had gone in a deep coma, hanging between death and life.

"The tears don't stop coming, but I can't feel them come out anymore. I want to run, to leave this place, to get away from here, as far away as possible, but then I hear a soft 'Excuse me.' And freeze. I quickly wipe away my tears, trying to act like I hadn't been bawling for the past 30 minutes, put the best smile I can on my face, and look up." "And with that, I start to walk over to Bench Girl. I get there a whole lot faster than I originally thought and almost want to turn around, but now I'm close enough to hear her. And it breaks me even further. It's like she's trying to catch her breath in between each sob, but it's not working so she can barely breath each time a sob escapes. I take a deep breath and as polite, calm, and not-trying to scare her, give a gentle 'Excuse me.'" What happens when Grayson finds a newly, cheated on and broken up with girl? What happens when they start to become friends? Will they become more? Or will their lives always be too different?
