Welcome to Belgate, a magical-turned-colorless metropolis where Magicians and Nonmagi have lived through years of discontent and begrudgery. Magic has been outlawed by the Alchemists, who have learned to suppress the Magicians power with their terrifying creations, Golems.
Elysia is among one of the few peasant girls who struggles in the rustic city of machinery and creation. Her father suffers from an illness, leaving her and her older brother with the task of supporting their family.
She often has oddly vivid dreams about a mysterious second life. Overtime, it becomes increasingly difficult for her to separate her dreams from reality, causing her to commit a murder that parallels into the real world.
Desperate, she runs away from her home and soon finds herself tangled with Alchemists, her greatest fears materialize and soon, each day becomes a fight for her right to stay alive and a choice between freedom or enslavement.
