My expression morphed into confusion. I voiced, "What are you here for?" Ignoring my question, he looked down at the phone in my hand. "Can't even put your phone down?" "It's attached to me. A real medical condition," I deadpanned. "I thought I told you not to answer questions with questions." "Did you?" He smirked. "I don't recall. Anyways, I wanted to tell you something." I waited for him to elaborate. When he didn't speak, I quirked an eyebrow. He just stood there seemly searching my face with a somber expression. Annoyed, I snapped my fingers in his face. He flinched before his lopsided grin returned to his face and he leaned against the door frame as he did often. His face was in close proximity to mine and I my face flushed red. Just as I was about to step back, he spoke. "I lied. I gave you my number because I wanted to." /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Evelyna Simoni is pretty average girl. She's a sarcastic hothead most of the time, sure, but just another college student. The only thing different about her is she doesn't have a mark. The mark that will tell you where your soulmate will first touch you. In a world that idolizes love, a mark was important. But she didn't have one. And Zander McAlistair, the guy who coincidentally ending up rooming with one of her friends, is just another college guy. Atleast this is what Evelyna thinks. When two people lock eyes in Chrystara, true colors are bound to burst. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ This is my FIRST STORY! Read at you own risk! Prologue In the world of college life, words are often thrown around like confetti-light, colorful, and sometimes lacking substance. They say things to fill the silence, to create connections, and to express feelings that often remain hidden beneath the surface. But what happens when those words fall flat? When the promises made in fleeting moments fade into echoes of unfulfilled intentions? This is a story about the complexities of communication and the silent battles fought within relationships. It began with a simple smile exchanged in the midst of chaos during National Pharmacy Week-a moment that seemed inconsequential yet held the weight of possibilities. She found herself drawn to him, captivated by the way he spoke, the way he made her feel. But as she discovered, words alone would not be enough to bridge the gap between us. As their paths intertwined, we danced around each other in a series of unsaid feelings, lingering glances, and an unspoken connection that left her yearning for more. But with every promise unkept, the reality became clearer: words are just that-words. They mean little without the actions to back them up. This is the story of Elle's journey through that realization, a tale of fleeting moments, unfulfilled expectations, and ultimately, the power of choosing clarity over confusion. It's about learning that love is not just spoken; it's demonstrated. And in the end, it was a lesson that would change everything she thought she knew about relationships and herself.
