Claire has lived a life of thievery and loneliness in the dark and gang filled streets of Camden, New Jersey. She's constantly hiding and sneaking through the streets and shadows. Her only friend is a wealthy daughter who took mercy on the troubled orphan. 

When a typical walk in the park turns into a recipe for disaster Claire is taken to an unknown world where laws are different and magic is real. And when that world is thrust into danger Claire must decide whether to help save it and be the hero, or return to her life of running and hiding. 

Befriending two dangerous assassins, a naive prince, and two goofy bounty hunters, Claire must embark on an adventure of death, discovery, and mystery. Through it all she will struggle to find where she stands in this new and strange place.
