When 17-year-old Mercedes sister unexpectedly goes missing, her life slowly falls apart. Nobody knows where her sister’s body is, not even her father Robert, who is the town’s cop. Then things take a different turn. A bus accident changes her life for better or worse. But as a weird side effect from her head injury, she develops a gift of having visions and seeing ghosts. One of her visions lead her to a murder victim, where the killer has murdered many more people. As more killings start to happen in her hometown, she begins to uncover the mystery of who the killer is. Mercedes starts digging deeper and this leads her down a dark road where once you stepped on it…there’s no going back.

Everyone is destined to play out a role in a tale, a random magical story which is decided for you by the "Tale-Master". For as long as she can remember Dawn has wanted to be the princess, her sister Luna doesn't care what she becomes, as long as she isn't the centre of attention.
