An illness swept the Earth within seven days, leaving no time to find a cure. Thousands of people died, leaving behind a world of horror. However, most of them didn't stay dead, instead they returned; they are now blood thirsty, strong, fast, warped. The legend describes them as Wendigos, humans resorting to cannibalism, possessed by this creature that uses their body to hunt.
Laura Hunt, a girl with a shadowy past holds a secret that can change the way the game of this new world is played. She's a carrier: someone who is human but strong and fast like the Wendigos. Even though those left in this apocalyptic world know of carriers, opting to burn them before they fully 'turn', no one knows of Laura's secret. Until Laura finds a note, threatening to expose her if she doesn't do what they say. Laura doesn't know who to trust and begins to search for answers herself. In the end, it becomes apparent that some things in this world are better off kept hidden.

In a dark world, humans live among creatures known as Nocturas. These creatures live and thrive off of the life essence in humans. Humans are doing everything they can do to eradicate the Nocturas, but it is a difficult task since a Noctura cannot be detected unless they are clearly seen draining someone's life essence or they reveal their black and dark violet eyes. As the humans are trying to destroy the Nocturas, the Nocturas are continuing to live their lives and do what they can to avoid being killed by the humans. They live in the shadows and do their very best not to reveal themselves to the humans. Some feed off of life essence as little as they can, while others are ruthless and violent.
