"She's like red velvet cake in human form." Calabasas, California is the 21st century Camelot. It's the home of Drake, Bieber, Miley, Britney, Selena, various and sundry Kardashians, plus two less-familiar names: high school sophomores Colinda Quarles and Darius Purveyor. Colinda befriends her new classmate Darius, and they learn they have some things in common: they're smart, they feel like outsiders among their glitzy classmates, they're self-conscious about their backgrounds (she's the daughter of controlling parents, he's a member of the small, ancient Zoroastrian religion) and they're both infatuated with gorgeous cheerleader Templynn Treat. But deep down they know they stand very little chance of winning her love: Templynn is probably the richest girl in school (her mom is a billionaire fast food mogul), and she's already going out with equally rich Holden Fickler. But when fate draws Templynn into their lives, their worlds start getting turned upside-down.
