While on a trip to New Orleans for her senior capstone project, Ho-Sook Kim finds herself in the middle of a violent outbreak. The guests and staff hotel she was staying in band together to survive and eventually become a family. Just weeks after the outbreak occurs, Ho-Sook gets separated from her group and ends up alone for nearly a year. When she finally reunites with her group, she finds that the world had been infinitely more cruel to her than it was to them and she must slowly reveal what had happened to her when she was made alone. The group eventually realizes that they have to change their way of life in order to stay alive like she did but know it's a painful process.
