On the way to work, two Smith City, Ohio, detectives are sidelined to investigate what is believed to be a routine death by natural causes of an old lady in a cheap hotel. It is not only found to be murder but eventually leads to another killing forty years in the past , in another city. The detectives are faced with solving an old bank robbery in order to catch their current killer.
