PROLOGUE: There was a man sitting at home, fiddling with his pencil, trying his best to do his job. This man sat back and sighed. He was famished and in an empty house. He was about to move. Boxes littered the hallway. He had gotten a new job in another state and knew it would be better for him and for those around him. On his last deadline, he knew not what to think about, let alone the blank blueprints he was meant to fill in. He preoccupied his time with thoughts of the past, romance, and grief. He thought of the man he'd loved. The man he still loved. He thought of the house he dreamt of having with him. He considered what would make it special for them. He pictured them dancing in their living room. Then, he started to sketch his dreams, thinking of the story that would change his entire life. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost.
