She is of the bloodline of a long-gone sea goddess. She also is the only one of her kind that can feel and fall in love. 14 years in the past, the queen and the mermaid met. The latter saving the former from a drowning at sea. Over a course of one summer, they became the best of friends. They separate because of their fates. Then happenstance has them reuniting again. I suggest reading What the Tide Brings first for continuity's sake, but this story can be read on its own.
