strange things will happen (if you let them)

It's always exactly at 7 pm when it's light enough to be able to see where she's going but dark enough for her features to be vague and hopefully not noticeable. Always with her hair tied back in a low ponytail. Always with her body encased in an unfitted black sweater, protecting her from the chill that would start to settle in.

Always crouching down in a squat to carefully pick out the same arrangement from the flowerbed- two daisies and a sunflower- and discreetly carrying it to the basket attached to her bicycle parked on the pavement beyond the hole in the fence.

Always looking back once at the house to make sure the porch was deserted. Always riding away in the same direction, away from anyone who might have seen her. Away from the garden, she's stolen from, every day for the past 326 days.

But to where?
