Matthew Harrison, who prefers to be called Harrison due to bad past experiences, judges people by their looks. Not only does he judge people by the way they look, but he judges everything by the outside. He'd rather walk along the length of a beach than explore the water, and stay on the coast of a country and delve deeper into the midlands.
He collects a mildly attractive groups of friends but he never learns anything about them, and he doesn't know much about himself either. Until he meets a mysterious girl under unusual circumstances who crosses boundaries and intruiges him, and for the first time in his life her 'perimeter' doesn't seem enough.

I know everyone at this school, but with his features hidden behind his mask I can't tell who he is. "Sure, I would love to." Did I just say that? I agreed to dance with a random boy who I don't know. He takes my hand and leads me to the dance floor. We dance for a few songs and then he asks me, "Would you like to take a walk? I know the perfect place." I nod and he pulls me behind him off the dance floor. We leave the hotel and start walking down a little path. At the end of the path I notice a little fountain surrounded by candles. I wonder if he set this up. We walk over to the fountain and we sit down on the edge.
