"So you really don't talk Little Miss Mute?"

There was a thud as Noah Karters fell to the floor clutching his nose. I looked down at my balled fist, my senses slowly returning, and I bolted through the halls, pushing through multiple onlookers. Then, I decided to turn around, only to see Jadia Fryer crouching down beside him, fanning all over his face, but his steel gray gaze was burning straight into me. I glared and spoke with as much menace then I've ever spoken to anyone.

"Never call me mute."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ladley Lynn Ciders has an intricate past and has learnt over time how to build walls and just how many people you should let in.

One person she didn't expect to have to let in would be Noah Joseph Karters, Stratton Guarder High's infamous bad boy.

But before you click read or scroll past, you should know something.

This is not a cliche romance story, Ladley is better than that.

Rather how two broken souls found that sometimes it's okay to step out of your comfort zone, and that judging a book by its cover is possibly one of the most dangerous thing you can do.

Avery wrapped an arm around my waist to catch me before I could get out the door. He pushed me up against the door, trapping me between his body and the door. "What's wrong?" I asked innocently. His face hovered over mine, much closer than I was used to. His gaze didn't leave mine as he spoke. "It would have been different if I had told him from the start. You wanted me to lie for you. You started this. If we tell him what really happened, he would be pissed at me for lying to him." "Stormie, you got a phone call!" Mason yelled up the stairs. The closeness between Avery and me started to make my legs feel like Jell-O, and I couldn't make sense of it. Our breathing became heavier. His eyes trapped mine. "Answer him," Avery murmured. "Uh," I stammered. I cleared my throat. "Be down in a minute!" My voice came out higher than usual. My gaze still couldn't escape Avery's. My heart raced wildly as his chest rose and fell against mine. Avery's gaze flickered to my lips. What's happening? My gaze fell to his mouth, which was moving closer to mine. Stormie West is brave, kind, and young. She has a lot to learn about love, trust, lust, and heartbreak. Stormie's older brother, Mason, is brave, cocky, and a bit of an asshole. Or will he be the cause of her destruction? ---------------------------- ~Noah's pov~ 'These,' I slowly run my finger across one of her scars, 'are fucking beautiful.' Before she can object, I carry on. 'Maya you are beautiful beyond perfection. You are strong. You are brave. You are funny. You are sweet. You are incredible. Look at yourself,' I nod down towards the scars on her arm and she slowly glances down at them before meeting my gaze again, 'those scars are beautiful. Do you know why?' I ask her. She wipes a tear from her already tear-stricken face before she shakes her head. 'Because every time you decided to do that to yourself, you didn't go further, you didn't end your life. You decided to carry on living even when you thought you couldn't manage it. Those scars right there,' I gesture to them again, 'show the battles you won against yourself. They are your battle-scars and you shouldn't be ashamed of them. And you know what? I am so proud of you for making it to where you are today because you are a fighter and If I can see that, anyone can.'
