Dealing with monsters is an everyday phenomenon, some blend in so well and do so little that no one would even notice they were there. Whether you are grocery shopping, on a public bus or even at home, you are near a monster of some sort. Some are benign and some are so dangerous that they are hunting by people like me. Usually we are sent out after the monsters are known by a small group of civilians, whom usually die before we get there. A few casualty's are normal and we can't have people blabbing about seeing what nightmares should only show. My name's Daniel and I'm a Monster Hunter.

The name is Pain, I am a demon, but don't be quick to judge. You humans attach beliefs to someone the instant your eyes fall upon them simply because of what you think you know. I am a demon, yes, but I am not cruel. You, human, are the cruel and wretched one for assuming I am. I am not cruel. I create monsters, but unlike other demons you may know of, I give my monsters what they want, what they think they need to be happy. I am not cruel, and I will prove it by offering you this: whatever you desire. Understand, of course, that you have to learn somehow. I'll give you what you want, but just as you live every day to get older, there has to be some kind of cost. -- What is the cost? Depends... what do you desire? Make the deal with me and then judge if I am cruel or not... --- A collection of short stories.
