- I wrote this short story for an exam at school. The topic was "seeing things", so I wrote about seeing things when on drugs. I did pretty well in my exam and my friends said they liked reading it so I decided to publish it online. Hope you enjoy :)

My hand slaps against my mouth as I try to shut myself up. Don't make too much noise...or he'll hear you. A vehicle's door opens then slams shut. I don't hear footsteps...but as the minutes go by I begin to hear them; the footsteps get louder and louder and louder, matching the sound of my thundering heart. That's when I see his shadow cast over the ditch...over the place where I tried to hide. "Well," he says with a smile in his voice. "I wonder where he could've gone...the footprints stop here...so I wonder if he just...disappeared?" My body begins to tremble. I can feel it now. The pain. I can feel the pain already. He jumps down into the ditch...he stands directly in front of me, with his back facing me. My hand presses harder against my mouth as I try to suppress my whimper, but it's way too late now. Junior year was going pretty well. I was having so much fun till the start of second semester. Now instead of this life I had planned for myself. I was sitting in a hospital room staring out a window, with who knows what kind of toxins being pumped into my body to save me. People walked out on me. People walked into my life. "Well then. That's the first time a girl has ever rejected my close proximity," he said, eyes ablaze with a playful fire. "You better get used to it," I retorted as I spun on my heel and headed for the school doors that led to the outside. "I've never met anyone like you before," he called after me, this time, not coming after me. "I know, Romeo. I'm a special little snowflake," I called back, not turning around. "You got the 'little' part right there, Princess!" he shouted after me. I threw up my middle finger back to him and heard him laugh as I exited out the doors rather dramatically. ... -REWRITTEN/EDIT THE ENTIRE STORY ON 7/24/17- Coughing, the smoke swirled in front of me as beams of black and white flashing lights raced across my vision, disappearing as quickly as they had appeared. My lungs ached as they tried to pull in clean oxygen, my eyes straining to see through the grey haze. Once the smoke dissipated some, I could see we had appeared in the middle of a road. It was cracked and full of potholes, the yellow lines coated with dirt and grime from over the years it seemed.
