El ambiente se desarrolla en una guerra en la cual no se menciona cuales son las países pertenecientes a esta, ni la época exacta de los acontecimientos, más sin embargo para los personajes es evidente que ha comenzado una guerra por la cual se van a ver afectados y se verán obligados a hacer contacto con esta, debido a constantes bombardeos cerca de el hospital mental en que habitan 

el contexto de el libro trata a fondo una Reflexión sobre  la locura, la noción de el tiempo, la necesidad de los recursos monetarios, los conflictos entre seres humanos, y los actos habituales y desagradables  que constantemente vivimos las personas.
