1st place - Imagination Awards Most original story - Story Awards (Trigger warning) Death [deth] Noun 1. The act of dying; The end of life; The total and permanent cessation of all vital functions of an organism. Look it up. Death by any definition could be applied to Ember Wes on December 15th 2006. Her heart couldn't beat. Her brain couldn't think. Her lungs couldn't take in oxygen. Her body couldn't move. Dead. Despite all of this, on May 21st 2017, Ember's feet walked through Earths rich soil. Her hair flew in the wind. And the sweet air filled her lungs. Scientists had been secretly researching how to bring the dead to life. To most, it was a miracle. But to some, it was wrong. They believe dead should stay in Irkalla. And they are willing to do anything to make it so. --------------------------------------------------------- Keep in mind while reading this, I am aware there are grammatical errors, I am planning on editing it, I just want to get the book out before I can chicken out. The Art of Death
Death is no stranger to Everlee. She's escaped death quite a bit in her lifetime but at some point, the running has to stop. Diagnosed with Stage III Sarcoma, 22 year old Everlee was prepared for death. She said her goodbyes. She accepted her fate. A diligent bookworm, Everlee found her adventures in the pages of a book rather than the real world so when the time came, she was ready for the adventure of a lifetime-death. Maddox is death. He's been in the business for 200 years so he's not an amateur. He is distant as he believes this is the only way he can efficiently collect souls. He is quite good at his job. He considers himself the master at transitioning souls into the afterlife. However, Emotions are dangerous to Maddox. Mortals are even more dangerous to Maddox. It's not Maddox's first roller coaster when he is sent to steal the soul of a delicate 3 year old. This 3 year old escapes death. This 3 year old grows into a 15 year old struggling with depression. Maddox goes to collect her once again only to have her escape. This 15 year older emerges as a stubborn, highly intelligent, and quiet woman of the age 22 who is diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Do yourself a favor... Go read "The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse" and/or "Messing with the Supernatural" This story is more dead than my will to live. But if you're willing to not take the story seriously and read for shits and giggles, this is for you. If you're looking for stories with plot and some comedy, I already recommend the stories above :D The story got discontinued due to make lack of enthusiasm and bad writing in the end. I wanted to finish this story and got too ahead of myself back then, so it does have a non-DxD ending. Its a shitpost and will always have a place in my heart as the first story I wrote and killed. I can understand why people discontinue books and do remakes. Sorry, this was me rambling and telling my thoughts on this story almost three years after I wrote it.
