❝Some women fear the fire. Some women simply become it.❞ [r.h. sin]

When the proverbial shit hit the fan and the dead started walking, Madison knew the world had gone to hell in a hand basket. While on the verge of losing who she is, the only thing that keeps her maintaining the will to live is her desire to keep the people she loves safe.
Through all of the death, violence and loss, she had never expected Daryl Dixon to become one of the people she loved the most. And he certainly didn't expect to fall in love with her, either.
But there are no happy endings in a world where the dead prey on the living. Especially when the living start to turn against each other, too.

This New World We Live In (A Walking Dead fanfic)

31 parts Complete

I ran as fast as my feet would carry me. My lungs gasped for oxygen. I knew I had to stop, but he could still be following me. I pushed myself harder. I needed to get away, far away. From him. From this. I remember I just woke up one day, and went to work as usual. I drove my squad car around town on patrol, but I saw bodies. Bodies everywhere. They were dead bodies, but they weren't still on the ground. They were walking around. As if they had re-animated. I shook away the memories from the day it started all those weeks ago and focused on my running. It was almost sunrise and I figured I could stop soon. As soon as I knew I was safe. But I know now that I had fooled myself. In this new world, you can never be safe. I'm Katie Greene, and this is the apocalypse.
