Most people have a soulmate, and once your soulmate touches you for the first time it leaves a mark/tatto that people call a soulmark. Not everyone loves their soulmate though, some people fall in love with someone that isn't their soulmate, it's ok but is frowned upon. But some people... Some people don't have soulmates. They are people that fate doesn't deem worth of a soulmate.
Eliza Schuyler belives in Soulmates, she's gone her entire life telling her sisters, her childhood friend Maria, and everyone she meets that she's waiting for the day to come where she finally gaines her soulmark. She never had a doubt in her mind that she might not have a soulmate.
Maria Lewis is the oppisite of Eliza, she doesn't belive in soulmates. She thinks their a stupid way of fate trying to force love on a person. She went her entire life trying not to touch people that weren't close family members, some people think she had a phobia of phisical contact, but she just didn't want a soulmate.

Everyone is born with a soulmate mark, placed somewhere random on your body. Some easy to cover, some hard. Some soulmate marks are pairs, both having a beautiful tattoo, matching perfectly. Some soulmate marks are matches, like pencil and paper, sun and moon.At first contact of skin to skin, the marks with burn, and fill with colour. Poly bonds weren't common, but they aren't rare.
