The Friendly Wendigo

You wake up in your little cabin in the woods. You walk outside to get some wood for the fire. Trying to be quiet, you pick up the heavy pieces of firewood, but you feel long, warm breaths of your shoulder. Paralyzed of fear, you don't dare to look back. But as curious as you are, you turn around and see a huge 10 foot tall creature towering over you. You don't scream, but you run out from below the creatures icy gaze and escape to the safety of your cabin. But you forgot the firewood outside. You got so scared that you dropped the wood to get away quicker. There was still a chance that the creature was still out there, waiting for you. You decide to wait until the creature walks away, and you get up to get the wood again. What was that? And will it return?
