It is the last few good years of Mirkwood, set in between the time of the Hobbit and the upcoming War of the Ring. Little do the denizens of the north realize that Sauron has set his sights on reclaiming the fortress of Dol Guldor. To that end he has sent 3 of the dreaded Nazgul to carry out his will.

However new faces have been seen in the region of southern Mirkwood. Attending a grand meeting of Woodmen in 2947 an unexpected representative from Gondor has arrived, signaling the Steward's interest in the growing power of men within the region. Accompanying him is an exiled Rider of Rohan, a Mirkwood Elf Warden representing king Thranduil's interest, and a wayward elf hunter of the woods. They would soon meet a lone hobbit accompanying the wizard Mithrandir and become embroiled within the fate of the region.

Is it possible to change the fate of the darkening of Mirkwood? Or will all fall to the inevitable shadow?

(This is something of a fanfiction dramatization of an rpg game I run, of Cubicle7's the One Ring's "The Darkening of Mirkwood" adventure. Due to the rather epic 30 year scope, heavy Tolkien influence, and general unknown nature of what exactly happens to the Mirkwood between the Hobbit and the War of the Ring other than that it does not go well for the free peoples. I have decided to do some micro writing of my player's adventures within the region. These will be revised and written in short bursts to maintain my own interest and be kept for general notes on where a narrative might be going and such. Characterization will be lacking at first as I get a feel for my player's characters. At the very least it will help to improve my writing and storytelling skills.)

In addition to this: because this is an ongoing story with ongoing sessions at roughly 1 year per session. I will consider comments that suggest potential paths for the story to take, as a GM any that intrigue me has the potential to be worked in while it is still ongoing.

Do We Let Them Stand Alone? by JenikaFoust

Galadriel has seen more war in five years than most would experience in a lifetime. She and her brother, Finrod, commanded the Great War's most elite death squad: the Loriens. Together they completed untold thousands of missions, destroying some of the Enemy's most valuable strongholds and weapons. In the last crucial battle of the War, Finrod was killed by Sauron, an Enemy lieutenant of reputed cruelty on and off the battlefield. Morgoth was killed in the same battle, and the Loriens were sent home. Galadriel and her commandos were expected to re-assimilate with the civilian population. Galadriel has struggled to adapt for months; but with her brother gone and so many of the Enemy soldiers, including Sauron, at large, how can she put down the weapons that have kept her safe for so long? Halbrand finally makes his way north to take refuge in the great city of Lindon, where a chance encounter with a half-elf lord puts him directly into the path of Galadriel. He's done fighting. It's time to atone for his misdeeds. If his identity is exposed, can he make the person who matters most to him understand? The two journey to the Southlands, where an orc father is pursuing a secret of his own. What is Adar hunting? That's a lot of very dramatic questions for a single description. All that cinematic fluff aside, I hope you'll take a look at my original fiction piece, as it has cost me many brain cells and many hours of sleep. #2 in haladriel #11 in ringsofpower trying to get in the top 100 of the lordoftherings tag but I keep topping out really close to 100...one day...
