After wandering unknowingly from her home in Brooklyn, New York, eleven year old Millie is suddenly stranded in Manhattan with nobody to rescue her, nobody except Jack Kelly, who adopts her into his life under the name Splash.  Two years later Splash embarks on a thrilling journey to help Jack and the newsies through the strike, and along the way some pieces from her shattered and mysterious past begin to resurface.
