I look at each of them amusingly. "Ok, let me see if I can get this right."

I point to the white haired woman to the left of me. "Storm," she nods her head.
"Cyclops."
"Wolverine," He doesn't acknowledge me, the scowl never leaving his face.
Then I turn to baldy in front of me. "And what do they call you... Wheels?"

Loren's life has always been a mix of smothered whispers and sudden outbursts, like a storm always on the horizon. In her world, where silence was a rare luxury, she learned early to keep her head down and her fists clenched. Home was less a haven and more a battleground, with every day bringing its own skirmish against shadows that lurked with a monster in them. After a fateful confrontation, her world is turned upside down.

Now at Xavier's School for Gifted freaks- Sorry, Youngsters- Loren spots an opportunity not for healing, but for hiding. It's a perfect chance to fade into the background, avoiding the complications of her recent upheaval. Her plan? Simple. no ties, no allegiance to this bizarre concept of "mutant pride" that seems to permeate the halls, and most certainly no enlistment into their laughable excuse for a superhero team, donned in nothing but unitard spandex - the X-Men.

With walls firmly erected and her guard perpetually up, Loren's intent is to navigate this new chapter with the same strategy that's always kept her safe: stay solitary, stay cynical, and stay out of the spotlight. But as the days unfold, laced with unexpected camaraderie, unspoken understandings, and the subtle realization that she might not be the only one fighting inner demons, Loren begins to question the feasibility of her plan. Is it possible that amidst a band of so-called freaks and in a place she reluctantly calls sanctuary, she could find something she wasn't even aware she was searching for?
