All Rue Evers wanted in life was a moment where she could think about herself. Where she didn't need to worry about bills, about school, or about the perverts her mother brought home almost every night. With her mother excessive drinking problems Rue had to step up to the plate and be the responsible one for the both of them. Working two dead end jobs just to make ends meet while attending high school is no easy feat but she makes do. But what happens when it's not enough? What happens when Rue comes home to find her mother dead? She's got to start over in an unfamiliar place ...although maybe a fresh start is exactly what she needed.
