Nelaeryn Sylrie is trapped inside the small walls of her elven village, Ormere, and is stuck even further within the walls of her own home. Trapped within her sisters' overprotective grasp, she has to find a way to prove herself. After 17 years she finally realizes that escaping and going to the source of any possible danger is the only option. The queen of the dark elves, Velorina, killed her father ten years prior and left her mother crazy and helpless. The only outside contact she has is her best friend, Arathorn Xilreth; until she escapes the stone walls of Ormere.

After years of captivity within the royal castle, Ophelya cannot fathom why her father has suddenly cast her into Gladius, the most feared academy in the realm. Is he discarding her? Or is there a darker game at play? Only one man holds the truth. The general. The monster. The prince and the most dreaded fae to walk the earth. But at Gladius, nothing is as it seems. Lies coil through the corridors like restless specters, every whisper is a blade, and behind every mask lurks a betrayal waiting to strike. The deeper Ophelya digs for answers, the tighter the snare of power, deceit, and forbidden longing coils around her. Now, in a den of predators, she must learn to endure. Because at Gladius, strength is law, weakness is a death sentence, and seeking the truth may very well be her downfall.
