With the first four seals stolen, the strength of the temples fades, and more outbreaks from the Energy Realm puts a strain on the Paladins. For Josh, it's nothing he can't handle. With his team by his side, sending magical creatures back where they belong is the best sort of training. At least until Cale and Mara leave for a mission of their own meant to build up their strengths and ditch him with a new teammate he barely knows. As the tensions grow high in the Sanctuary, both because of the ongoing war with the Shadow Knights and shady Sage politics, Josh tries to find comfort in his former life and the people he thought he'd left behind. But his peace is not meant to last. Mara and Cale have disappeared, and all clues point to them being in the Energy Realm. Home to monsters and remnants of Phoenix Dragons, the other realm holds many threats, but Josh will do whatever it takes to find his friends. While there, he discovers a way to give the Paladins an edge in the war, but this solution forces him to make a decision he isn't sure he can make. He must put his fate, as well as those he loves, in the hands of a Sage who hates him. -- Cover by eryxnaps

Optional sequel to Upon Wings Of Change. Tessa's Story: a version with *JUST* Tessa's POV (different from the original "Passing the Torch" version, which has 3 POVs, and is still available on my profile) Summary: The dragonets are flourishing; both those in the park and those helping the Kymari. As the first dragonets to hatch in the Kymari civilization, Tessa and her brother are paving a new path as they grow up and learn how to fit into the world. New beginnings are often great things, but sometimes shadows from the distant past come calling. (A slightly more polished version is also available on Amazon) Excerpt: I braced my feet against the wall as I pulled. Suddenly, the lever swung downward. I lost my grip and tumbled backward. I landed on my side and slid across the counter. My legs and tail flailed as I tried to get to my feet or slow down-but I didn't manage it in time. Almost in slow motion, my feet went off the counter as I slid into the air. Without thinking, my wings popped open and beat hard as I twisted, trying to turn right side up so I could fly properly. I blinked in shock when I realized I was already flying upward. Grinning triumphantly, I beat my wings again and went back to the counter. Pleased with my flying abilities, I proudly landed on the counter - and forgot to slow down, which promptly sent me sliding across the slippery surface, lightly colliding with the glass door. I ducked my head sheepishly, glad no one else had seen that. My eyes locked onto the gap between the glass doors. With an eager grin, I pressed my shoulder against the edge and pushed. My feet struggled to find traction, but it was opening! Once I pushed the door far enough, I scampered over to the cantaloupe. It was much bigger up close. I blinked slowly, trying to think about how I was going to move it. There was no way I'd be able to lift it. It was round though. Round things could roll, right? Updates every weekday!

Long Ago

"Long ago, there was a time when everything was filled with magic." My grandfather began, "Where you could feel it dancing around on the mid day breeze. When not only could you feel it, but you could see it. It shimmered and shined throughout the world, everywhere you looked, there magic would be. " He smiled at me as he blew sparkles from his hand into my face. I giggled and batted it away with my small hand. "I remember the days when there were creatures of every kind and shape in the world. I remember playing with the fairies and swimming with the mermaids. I remember having to come inside at night before the trolls came out for feeding time. I remember seeing a dragon breath fire." "You saw a dragon?" I asked in awe. My little green eyes lit with wonder and joy. "Yes, Bean, I did." He said smiling as he flicked my tiny freckled nose. "I saw many dragons in my long life of living. They flew wide over the mountains and soared high above the clouds in the sky." He stretched his crinkled hand over his head, to show how the dragons flew. "They would glide over the world and land on their tall mountains. Returning home after his long day of flight. Oh, Bean, if only you could have seen it." He shook his head, his light grey, shoulder length hair moving with each pass. "I wish I could see a dragon once more before I die." He took a deep breath. "But no, I cannot."
