Melody Smith is deaf, lost her hearing in a terrible accident that she doesn't talk about. She has 2 overprotective brothers, that would do anything for her. Her dad Jonathan also is protective specially since the accident. She lost her mom in that accident, and part of herself that she doesn't believe will be back. She is closed off, very unsocial at school, barely talks. Nobody dares to mess with her anymore.
Jacob Williams is moving across the country, he isn't happy about it but at least he has his best friend with him. He loves his twin sister to death and is very protective of her specially since she used to get bullied at their old school which is the main reason he hates bullies. When he meets Melody he is intrigued at why nobody at school talks to her or messes with her.
