What would you do if your world did a 180 turn around the summer of your senior year of high school?  That's how life was for Aubrey Rose. The summer of her junior year of high school Aubrey and her older brother Kaleb were driving down the road coming back from their mom's house in North Carolina when Kaleb fell asleep at the wheel causing the car to hit a power line and tumble into a ditch. 2 weeks later Aubrey woke up in the ICU with no memory of what happened and no vision in both eyes, her brother Kaleb had been in a coma the whole time, and they did not know of he would wake up. They were going to send 100 delinquents to the ground as an experiment to see whether the level of radiation was survivable or not. In doing so, they managed to sentence almost all of them to an untimely death that was almost inevitable. With the idea of freedom, Hailey knows that she is never safe and that if weaknesses are shown, someone will use them against her. Will she be able to overcome her emotional and mental walls, even if it means that she'd be vulnerable? Being on the ground will change Hailey in ways that the people on the ark would never expect.
