In 2014, in an alternate reality, a corporation known as "Hammer Head" created the first series of virtual reality headsets. These new devices were made to allow the wearer to travel across the digital galaxy. To go anywhere, and do anything he or she desired. However......something went wrong. After two weeks of being released to the public, complaints and frantic phone calls came into the hospitals. 900,000 people uploaded their minds to the virtual universe......and only 845,000 minds returned. After losing 55 customers to this technological death trap, Hammer Head was sued and shut down. All headsets were recalled and disposed of....but we're they?
After 4 years of trying to forget the Hammer Head tragedy, a company named "Dreamsoft" unveiled what they had been working on for two and a half years.....the new VR headset. Redesigned and improved performance. Dreamsoft promised that there were no bugs. No chance of losing your mind to a world of computers. Another promise was made, by the owner of Dreamsoft.
"The new VR system is 100% safe. No one will lose their lives to this technology again, and to prove it, I will offer up a contest. The first person to complete the first video game for my new creation, will win $500,000,000 cash. I created the game as a MMO, intending to use it for this purpose alone. It will be a BLAST, and will be for ages 8 and up. It even has chat sensor coding. Your children will end the game with the same amount of innocence they had when they started. As for the theme and name of the game.....I guess you'll have to play to find out!"
Despite what had happened in 2014, the new Dreamsoft headset sold out immediately. 514,000 people entered the game unaware of what waited them. Is this another death sentence, or is the device as safe as the creator's claim? Read on, reader, read on.....
