The boy he had a crush on since he was 11 years old. He's starting to realize that he isn't as useless as he thinks he is, and that he's actually worth something. Everything is going great for a while. But just like it always is for demigods, nothing good ever lasts. The death of Nico's first and closest friend Jason Grace puts a sudden end to the sunshine that currently brightens Nico's life for once. His death triggers a lot of things for him, and shines light on a lot of his unresolved trauma. Will Nico be able to make it through this without his mental stability completely breaking once and for all? Will Nico be able to let people in enough to help him get through it? And what about the mysterious dreams that Nico keeps having of his mom? And who really is this little girl that knows nothing about her past? In this sequel to Out of the Shadows, Nico sees familiar faces and revisits past places, but at least this time he has Will along for the ride. Nico works night shifts at a 24/7 coffee shop by himself since nights are slow. He's also full-time at college, when he's 'working', he has the opportunity to do homework; however, he prefers to just read. He never told people about his sexuality (for personal reasons) until it was suddenly revealed in front of one person: his acquaintance, Jason. Not even Nico's sister knew yet, but now he is forced to deal with this friend of a friend, who knows his secret. At work one night, he and his mythology book are interrupted by someone actually coming into the shop. Who could need a coffee at midnight? Midnight Coffee shares its storyline with my book Coffee at Midnight, these are written to play with different perspectives in storytelling. Midnight Coffee was written first, is told strictly from Nico's perspective, and has a cast of Percy Jackson characters. Coffee at Midnight is told strictly from Will's perspective, has a cast of Magnus Chase characters, and includes bonus scenes between the two.
