Sapphira Fox and Remus Lupin knew each other since Sapphira was born. They grew up together. Sapphira was there when Remus got bit, but called for Lyall and defended herself not getting bit or scratched once. Remus is always happy when Sapphira helps him when it is close to the full moon. Remus and Sapphira hate being apart from each other. That is why they both were happy when she got a letter from Dumbledore when she was ten.
When they get to Hogwarts they make friends. The Marauders; James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin; become famous pranksters. Sapphira stands up against bullying.
Remus' friends, besides Sapphira, tell him about a fox who was beside his werewolf self, Moony.

For as long as Remus can remember he's had a hard life. Constant monthly mutilations of his skin, a absent father, and the trepidation of his blush inducing crush on Anastasia Fox. Anastasia Fox, who flirts with everyone, has matching fainter scars, and is completely oblivious to Remus' crush. So oblivious she thinks he finds her annoying beyond degree. - "You don't know?" Lily was faint almost silent as she asked the boys. "Know what?" Remus asked now concerned by the ginger serious tone and grave expression. Anastasia had just run out of classroom on the topic of werewolf's. "Her whole family was attacked and killed by a werewolf. When Remus was laying in bed, Sirius wanted to crawl in too; every time Sirius sat next to Remus, he had to constantly remind himself not to run his hand over Remus' thigh; Sirius wished he could slip his cold hands under Remus' thick sweater and finger every scar that littered Remus' pale skin; Sirius wanted to caress every part of Remus' face as if he could memorize it by touch; and Sirius really wanted to know what the soft skin on Remus' neck felt like under his lips, Sirius wondered if Remus was as susceptible to love bites as he was.
