Greyson Hayes is still reeling from the sudden death of her best friend, Emerson Hill, one year ago. Greyson is barely hanging on; in a matter of one week she lost her other half, and Emerson's family, who she was closer to than her own. So, when Jillian, Emerson's mother, summons Greyson back right at the end of her freshman year at college to play bridesmaid, Greyson just prays she can survive the two weeks staying in her dead best friend's room. But, when Colton, Emerson's older brother, is their to fulfill his role as the dutiful son, the pair return to their previous argumentative ways. Both are trying to make sense of Emerson's death, and both are destroying themselves in an attempt to find peace. They both blame themselves, and each other, for not stopping Emerson's death. Greyson and Colton are surrounded by darkness, and it looks like the only way out might be to re-light that old flicker between them. Two teenagers, broken and consumed by a tragedy, fighting to learn to live and love again. But, will Colton and Greyson end up saving each other, or burning themselves past the point of no return. **WARNING: THIS STORY WILL CONTAIN REFERENCES TO SUICIDE, SELF-HARM, ANOREXIA, AND DRUG ABUSE. Emerson Taylor, straight A student. Everyone knows her name. She has the popularity and the looks and the athletics and the best friend, and the sense of humor. She has lost her dad, and her sport, and she's not the most mentally stable, what more could a girl ask for? Ivor Hill, captain of the football team, okay enough grades, a reputation that can kill, a best friend, looks, and bruised knuckles, and both parents. He looks at you like he doesn't see you as an equal, as a person; but when it comes to Emmy, he can't help it. Can two people who seem to be destined for each other, work out? Or is it too perfect? Is it too meant to be? Should they have stayed friends, or even strangers? ♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎ Ivor looked at me and whispered, "I bet you 5 dollars they were together." "I bet 10." He nodded and the phone rang. Miss Scott groaned and stood up to walk over to the phone. "Well hello Mr. Jones!" She smiled. I looked at Ivor, "pay up." "You first." ♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎ "I used to not believe in love." I tell him matter-of-fact-ly. ♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎ Started: July 23rd, 2021 Finished: October 16th, 2021 ♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎♧︎
