Greyson Hayes is still reeling from the sudden death of her best friend, Emerson Hill, one year ago. Greyson is barely hanging on; in a matter of one week she lost her other half, and Emerson's family, who she was closer to than her own. So, when Jillian, Emerson's mother, summons Greyson back right at the end of her freshman year at college to play bridesmaid, Greyson just prays she can survive the two weeks staying in her dead best friend's room. But, when Colton, Emerson's older brother, is their to fulfill his role as the dutiful son, the pair return to their previous argumentative ways.

Both are trying to make sense of Emerson's death, and both are destroying themselves in an attempt to find peace. They both blame themselves, and each other, for not stopping Emerson's death. Greyson and Colton are surrounded by darkness, and it looks like the only way out might be to re-light that old flicker between them.

Two teenagers, broken and consumed by a tragedy, fighting to learn to live and love again. But, will Colton and Greyson end up saving each other, or burning themselves past the point of no return.
