It has been nineteen years since the fall of the Night Kingdom, sixteen since Princess Astnorden bent her knee to the queen who destroyed her parents and devastated her people.
And every day of compliance only fuels her thirst for revenge.

Now, civil war looms on the horizon. Escaped slaves, faceless assassins, and warrior maidens stir restlessly in the shadows of the queen's fragile realm, while ancient demons and newborn dragons open their eyes for the first time in centuries.

In the midst of the chaos, Astna finally has the chance to destroy those who dared to disgrace her...but there are many who would smother her whispers of mutiny before they swell into a roar.

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope). Cover created by the most excellent @apprehensiveanne. It's very cool.

ONC 2025 - LONGLISTER, SHORTLISTER, 2x AMBASSADOR PICKS AND HONOURABLE MENTIONS Reverse Handmaiden's tale set in a fantasy medieval land. *** Fynn of Teleni is an orphan born and raised within the Great Kingdom of Teleni. The particularity of his home is its rare breed of virgin male soldiers. Currently stationed in the same barrack for nearly five years, Fynn is determined to climb in grade and become commander. Seileia is from the Eleenora's wood, an uncharted forest and the last unconquered territory by the Kingdom of Teleni. Descendant from a race of powerful witches and dragon riders, Seileia fears being the next one like her many sisters who have gone missing, taken by the Kingdom of Teleni. With no proof to attest to her suspicions, Seileia storms into Fynn's barrack on her dragon to rescue them all. The plan should have worked as she comes disguised as one of Teleni's soldiers; however, Fynn catches her, and the two of them fight with Fynn exposing her naked body to everyone and calling her "a demon." To fall in love with a demon is the last of their wishes, and yet, outnumbered, the Kingdom of Teleni captured Seileia and leaves her under Fynn's sole guardianship. *** ONC 25' Prompt 2: To be in love with a demon was the last thing on your wishlist. Prompt 61: The silence in the room is deafening, as though it has a life of its own. It's time to rewrite the fairy tale, but this time, the ending will be yours, and it won't be happy. ROUND 1 - 10.03.2025 ROUND 2 - 10.04.2025 ROUND 2 AMBASSADORS PICK - 22.04.2025 LONGLISTER - 21.05.2025 ROUND 3 AMBASSADORS PICK - 23.05.2025 SHORTLISTER - 01.06.2025 HONOURABLE MENTIONS - 25.06.2025 *** CW: Depictions and mentions of violence with a bit of foul language but mostly a war of the minds over the ones of the bodies. Sensible chapters will be marked with *** at the end of their titles.

Growing up in their sister's shadow wasn't easy; surviving after she left has been harder. In the nine years since their Kingdom was destroyed by the cruel Falcondar family, Kiridan has had two objectives: to stay hidden from the Falcondars, and to figure out why their sister never came back for them. They discover that she started an underground organization to overthrow the Falcondars...and then died three years ago while on a mission in the mountains. Determined to make something of their sister's efforts - and to be recognized as more than the less-talented sibling - Kiridan decides to break into the organization known as the Infernal Uprising, taking their rightful place among its leadership. But as the attack on the Falcondars draws nearer, they'll have to learn that leadership is more than barking orders, and that trust is difficult to earn. When the chaos spirals further than anyone expected, and new powers come into play from every direction, a lot of people may have to reevaluate what they stand for...whether they're an Infernal Uprising soldier, a traitor, or a Falcondar Princess herself. Sure, through the eyes of those in power, the world has always been in conflict. But for the next generation waiting to take over, the conflict is just beginning. And for the rest of the unsuspecting universe, it hasn't even begun. Which came first, the catastrophe or the change? And what's the difference in the first place? ******* ONGOING.
