In the not-so-distant future evolved humans emerged. Those who had powers that broke conventional laws of physics, chemistry, and biology were dubbed E.H.s (evolved humans); it was wondrous for a time. Of course if there was power to be used there would be those who misuse. To that end the evolved humans police department was formed to deal with all crime committed by or connected to E.H.s, a force entirely comprised of E.H.s trained to stop and capture any E.H. breaking the law. Adlet Blacksteel is the newest edition to the E.H.P.D., his skills and experience as a hostage extractor makes him an invaluable edition. Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire. While prejudice against E.H.s reaches it's peak because of a horrific tragedy, the Soldiers of the New World waste no time to expand their reach and rally for their cause of taking over the city. Adlet goes to the edge of sacrificing everything and back again. On the way, betrayal awaits at every corner. Opposites Attract
Based off a prompt on Tumblr: "I want a superhero series where they have powers that 100% contradict their personalities". Molly grew up as a fisherman's daughter in a village by the ocean, so naturally, it was a surprise to her and those around her when she acquired fire powers. Everyone around her had some sort of magic, but they all were compatible with who they were. Molly's mother had died in a fire for Aglea's sake! (Note: Aglea is a goddess who's name just happens to resemble a Greek goddess. They're very different.) Jax was the son of a rich blacksmith, who shocked everyone by developing water powers, and strong ones at that. When the two meet, they go on a journey to save Molly's village from a witch who wants their magic for her own. If they can't stop her, her icy grip will smother the world. Will something other than friendship develop over this trip? Only time will tell. (I don't own the cover image if you know who it belongs to, tell me so I can credit them. But when it comes to spending time with their kid sister, they couldn't bothered, they have more to do. Even mom is too busy manning their control center to do more than check in every few days. Desperate to reconnect with her family, Kamella decides to use the powers that she has to become a villain named Blinq, just to get attention from her family. But life is already hard. Heading into her senior year in high school, trying to keep her crush away from the stupid boys she keeps dating, fending off suitors of her own, and then meeting other heroes and villains certainly keeps her on her toes. How much of a mess can she make, and will she be able to clean it up? This is being written for the Open Novella Contest 2024, for prompt #87: You come from a family of highly respected heroes. All three of your big brothers are known as powerhouses, but you rarely see them since they're always saving the city. One day you realize that the only way to see all of your brothers is to become a villain. I'm not like wonder woman, supergirl or catwoman. The only similarity we share is that we all have an extraordinary ability and are females. Many people would say having superpowers was a gift from god and the best thing that could ever happen to you. But not for me, being able to freeze time was more of a burden, because I couldn't control it and it had the worst timing to appear. I also didn't think about being a superhero and rescuing the world from the bad. The only thing I want is to be left alone and get over with my last year of high school.
