Whilst investigating the death of a local, a noble prince by the name of Mitald Leofury uncovers a legend of a supernaturally cursed book circulating throughout Middlebrough Mountain. As soon as someone uses the book, he or she has exactly 120 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they are translucent. A marked person would feel like being burned alive when touched.
Mitald gets a hold of the book, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a wise rat reading the stars, and a hooded bat ranting about curses and a room located in the Palace of Demonsoch.
When Mitald notices his fingers have cat-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the old book is true. He calls in his friend, the famed military general Thasma Holisum, to help.
Thasma examines the book and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds the same visions flashing through her mind. The wise rat, and the hooded bat. She joins the queue for supernatural death.
Mitald and Thasma pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with the search for the hooded bat. Will they be able to stop the curse before time is up?
