What if Poseidon was never meant to marry Amphitrite? Or Zeus was never supposed to marry Hera? Even Hades, what if he wasn't supposed to marry Persephone? And what about the all the other gods? After a horrible murder conducted by the gods, a curse befell them. They will never find their one true love; their esrthai. Yes, they can marry, but the gods would never have their full strength, and power without their esrthai. ------ When Selene finds a book one day in the library, she is drawn to the gods' annual esrthai ceremony. The signs for an esrthai were faint. But the gods were determined, thus poor Selene and her four friends were caught into this crossfire of desperate gods. They had a two choices: be one of the gods esrthais' and live with them for all eternity; having to pass tests, gain acceptance from all the other gods, and have a great chance of dying. Not be any of the gods esrthais' and die, or hope that one of the gods have an interest in you, and make you their chosen or slave. If they want you to be their chosen, tests and more await you. Selene and her friends didn't like the sound of any of their options but what could they do? ------ You must read the origin story first before you read the other books that follow in the series. If you don't, you will be confused and won't get a thing. So please read this book before you read the others. Mature Content including violence, sex, and language The gods are fighting. Mortal creatures worship and pray, scheme and plot, all in the name of their chosen deity. It is a silent war, but every war has casualties. I am one of those casualties. I have no beast in me. I am just a simple Acera girl, born into the Fifth House, under the Love goddess. My Fated is not a simple male. Thane of the First House is a Lord, a powerful Tasuri warrior and his love for me was not enough to stop the war from creeping into his heart. He rejected me. He murdered me. But that was not my end. One god took pity on me. The one god who has no House, no children, just a temple filled with thousands upon thousands of souls. Nateos, the Lord of the Underworld, Death himself. He claimed me as his daughter and gave me a name: Mara, Grief come to life. But... there is war. And, I am now a part of the battle. My new father gave me life. A home. A family. What else does a father give his only living child? I was not ready for him. But I want him.
