"My love, what could be so horrendous that you couldn't tell the man who just risked his life for you?" Xerxes' questions, his dark, expressive eyes, that flash with determination and trust capture my own whilst his large, scarred hands firmly grip my shoulders; preventing me from moving. "You don't know me." I spit quickly, however this is just an angry facade that is weakly thrown up to protect my fear. The fact that I'm terrified of what could happen to me. The fact that my tears beg to stream down my cheeks, the fact that my libs yearn to tremble in horror and the fact that I love him too much to lose him. He can't find out yet. Especially not now. - Nobody knows Hadathea for who she really is. She has lied to her friends and loved ones her entire life. She knows that if they knew who she really was they would cast her out; how could she tell the people most important to her that she was of an illegal bloodline? Hadathea and her Uncle, her only remaining family member, keep their secret hidden. If people knew Hadathea's family would instantly be prosecuted and illegally killed. People like her must be 'dealt with as soon as possible'. However, there are more like her. People that live hidden and safe in the far corners of Persia. Hadathea yearns to have their freedom, to have rights and respect. When she sets off to leave she is captured and is held hostage, in a lush sort of way. Hadathea is now a maiden chosen to be a candidate for Queen of Persia. To marry King Xerxes, a powerful warrior who is a born leader, handsome with a commanding presence and a danger that lurks around him with every step he takes. She must once again change herself, as Hadathea, now Athena, soon realises that she needs the position of Queen more than to be pampered. She could set her people free. But with an arising curse that chases her every step she must act quickly. However, to go before the King without being summoned is a crime punishable by death. 2018-

Many forget that the goddess of love was born from the raging sea, but she would do anything to protect her daughter. Adora was Aphrodite's last daughter. Her mother kept her hidden. But, her mother isn't the only one who can keep a secret, especially in a world where your role in society is everything. For there was a prophecy long before she was born: 'Aphrodite's last child would be the one to take the throne, Her paternity unknown. They would carve her face and never forget, for she would be the most beautiful that they had met Cursed for the same fate as her mother Forced to leave her love for another The only way she shall break this curse is if she defeats the first' "Looks like the princess doesn't need saving after all." He says, quietly enough that no one else would hear, as he draws his hand away from my arm. I glare back at him. "Maybe she never did," I walk away, not sparing a single glance back, no matter how much my body was begging me to. I fuss over my hair, pouting as I run my fingers through it to put it back into place. *A warning note* I am not an expert on Greek Mythology, but it interests me greatly. Please excuse any inaccuracies in the book, but if there are any please do message or comment it and I will see if I can change it without making such a huge difference to the plot. Also, my main character is autistic and the experience will be different for everyone. I have tried my hardest to put down on paper how I feel and how I believe others see me. So, please be respectful about the decisions my characters make as I have chosen to give them many different types of neurodivergent brains. I have tried my best to represent these in the most accurate light whilst not romanticising them.
