Our breath mixed together as it came out in short gasps. We stood in the shallows of the pool, our bodies so close that our noses nearly touched.

He stared straight through me with those glassy green orbs, as if he could truly see every party of me in that moment, "I'm not heartless you know. Just because I've never been in love...that doesn't make me a monster."

 I pulled my arms closer to myself and turned away from him, breaking his gaze, "Well I have been in love, and I am heartless now because of it."

 I pulled myself out of the calm pool water, leaving him standing in the shallows alone. As I walked back to the house I paused, stopping only to glance at him one more time before adding;

"You're better off without it. Trust me."

31 parts Complete

"I can't write like this," I pointed out. "Is this all you care about?" Ryan asked. I shrugged. "Not this specifically, but yeah, I care about my grades." Ryan smirked. I swallowed nervously but refused to break my stoic expression. He leaned closer to me, my heart pounding so hard against my chest it felt like it might break out and fall on the table between us. His mouth was right by my ear, and I could feel his warm breath when he spoke which sent shivers down my spine. "Well, aren't you a little a scholar?" *** The only things Alex Moris ever cared about were his grades and his sister. However, when the boy his sister likes, Ryan Smithe, makes things complicated and causes him to feel things he's never felt before, Alex realizes that, maybe, there's more important things in life than grades and scholarships.
