Kendall, a bisexual 16-year-old, is living at home with an abusive mother, who's also an alcoholic. To cope with the physical pain received from her mother's violent actions, she cuts. At school, she has no friends and prefers to be a wallflower, not minding the fact that she goes by unnoticed.

One day, her mother dies from liver failure, and at the funeral, Kendall is introduced to Katherine, her mother's friend who will be her new guardian. Kendall moves in with Katherine to their home in Washington. She never expected to fall in love with her daughter, but then again, she never expected to fall in love with Cole either. Or Dani's brother, Spencer.

Torn between the three, who will she choose? What happens when the girl who could never trust a soul begins to trust again? Even better: falls in love?

Michelle doesn't want to think about her parents divorce. No more, then she already has. Michelle swears she will never let herself forget what her father did to both her and her mother. He left them, for someone else. So, Michelle starts to believe, that love can never last. It's also Michelle's senior year of high school. Michelle plans to focus on hanging out with her three best friends, staying out of trouble (if that's possible), not thinking about her father or his new wife, and actually trying to keep up in her classes. What happens when sometimes her temper gets the better of her? Or, what about her new Physics teacher? Is he really that nice, and all... or is there another side to him? Will Michelle ever start believing in love again? Or will her heart ache just at the end? Looks like Michelle's crystal clear plansbfor senior year aren't so, crystal clear after all. It's about to get pretty complicated.
