Sierra Stevens was seen by everyone as the definition of perfect. Everyone, except for herself. When she looked in the mirror all she could do is hate what she saw.

Justin Allen has never been one to stand out in a crowd, he has lived normally for most of his life. Like every other person he has simply admired Sierra from afar.

When the two meet, Justin learns that Sierra is not as perfect as he thought, the two are not so different at all. Together the pair learn that there is a thin line between perfection and tragedy.

How quickly everything ended by just a single day, I was just like any other girl in the world- laughing and hanging out with friends, taking endless selfies, having crushes on bad boys and nerds included. I was confident, maybe even a little vain. I never thought or cared about how I look. It was just mine. Normal. Easy. But everything changed in one single moment- a moment filled with fire, screaming metal, and a blur of terror that rewrote my life. I survived. Everybody says I'm lucky but this, this doesn't feel like survival it feels like a punishment, a curse. A curse that am willing to carry all my life. The accident left me with permanent facial disfigurement, and ever since, I've been stuck behind a mask I never asked to wear. My face is the first thing anyone sees, and sometimes, it feels like the only thing they see. I avoid mirrors now. I no longer go out i miss how I would go out whenever I felt like it. I can't risk being stared at- the quick. Friends faded. Invitations stopped. Of course this would stop, who would want to invite the hideous me. I would scare everyone worse ruin their appetite. That's how everyone reacted the first time I went out. What did I expect. Life moved on for everyone but me. My mom is the only person in my life right now, the only person who hasn't looked away. Shes' become my anchor, my only link to the world I used to know. Even with her love, it's still hard to silence the voices in my head, the ones saying I'm hideous, broken, unworthy. I miss my old smile. I still haven't done anything in life. This isn't just my appearance it's about everything, it stolen my self- esteem, my confidence, my ability to feel like I belong anywhere. I dont feel beautiful anymore, it's not like I was that beautiful but I was myself. I don't even feel like me. This is a constant battle with the mirror, with the world, and with yourself. And most days, I'm still trying to find the strength to look up to.

It's for everyone. Both those that have already tried recovery and those who are still fighting. I'm here to support. All of you, all of us. Because we all matter. I'm not a professional. Not a psychologist, psychiatrist. Just an ed survivor, writing from lived experience. Skip if you find these triggering - I completely understand. I believe that we all deserve support, and much better than the world that portrays serious diseases as "success stories" or "becoming healthier, prettier." We can do better. In short, this is a series about eating disorders and everything related to them: relapses, beginnings, the process, healing, society's influence, and recovery. I write about things that affect me as a person who has, and still is struggling with this little trap in her mind that says to give up. And that's why I'm creating this. We need something else besides the constant skinny obsession, don't we? Even if you decide not to read any of the chapters - I get it. If you don't agree with my point of view that I share in this project, that's alright. I'm not trying to convince anyone to my mind. I'm trying to let people with invisible, underrated struggles be heard, seen. And you're valid. You're enough. There're more of us. We are no longer silent. We're here for ourselves - that's already a big step toward healing. I'm not going to tell you that recovery is the same for everyone. I'm not going to tell you that people won't comment on your appearance. I'm not going to tell you that you'll always love yourself after recovery. But I am going to, at least try, to convince you that being alive is worth more than looking a certain way. You think feeling your bones is hot? You know what's more? BEING ALIVE. Healing is a process. And it's hard. But as long as you are alive, you always have a chance. I'm not one of the perfectly recovered ones. I see this trap. I've lived in it. I still do. But I'm not afraid of speaking about it - until someone finally hears me.

This is a true story one that's difficult to read... a simple story that talks about some hard things. It's a story about a girl and her mind. Most of you will stop and look away now, thinking that it will be boring, and I'm not going to stop you from walking away. It's your decision. Life is full of those. Decisions, choices that we make which each change the course of our life. I recommend you read this book. It's not your typical girl meets guy story. No it has nothing to do with that, but it does show you something that I think to humanity is more important than that, and truly I am not saying this because I am the author but if you read this book I don't think that it is one of the decisions you will regret in life. It isn't easy to read, so consider it a challenge in which you have nothing to lose if you participate. So I ask you, Why not participate? " I stared into the mirror and I knew; I simply knew what I was getting into. This was my decision. The one that decided to take my joy out of life. To suck it away, and I just watched. I just watched as my soul got carried away in the wind. I watched knowing that it was all the voice's fault. The monster that raged inside of me took control, and I again just watched as I let go of my grasp on it. It broke lose with a feral scream, and so that was when chaos begun..."
