God had long since turned his attentions elsewhere, leaving humanity to fend for itself on a cruel and unforgiving plane of existence. Sensing the absence of the ethereal power, the denizens of the abyss had pushed their way through the barrier of oblivion into the realm of man, taking the once at ease world as their own. Having no guidance, most of the angels had fled their posts, leaving the conflict to be dealt with by the mortals. However, some have remained, walking among man with the sad futility of helping the pathetic creations of God.
