Circa 1945 after the events of WWII following the life of a soldier through the eyes of Aiden Borine (Ansel Elgort) as he faces the trifles of serving his country for one year.  Returning to a home wreck, and with his desire for comfort enveloping him, he begins to reconnect with old friends, one being quite the oddity which he feels responsible for.  During this time of turmoil and a healing mind, he tends to care for a boy who is titled Kaori Lucien Abrahms, who he tends to call Cricket (Alex Lawther).  As their turn of the chapter begins together, they face union and the debauchery which is conjured by their helpless attributes.
