Four months have passed since Alduin was defeated at the hands of the Dragonborn. Famine, disease, and war spread all over the land of Skyrim. As winter reaches its height, the Civil War ravaging Skyrim grinds to a halt. The days grow shorter and the nights grow longer. In that darkness, vampires, are terrorizing the country in open attacks and murdering anyone they can find. Only the Dragonborn, the hero of Skyrim and Nirn, can stop them - only after the death of his family by the hands of Stormcloaks and Imperials during the Battle of the Pale - has vanished.

Ocellina of Evermore, the new Arch-mage of Winterhold, seeks out the Dragonborn's friend and companion, Egil Osmundersson, a legendary Bard and Thane of Whiterun. With luck, he can lead her to the Dragonborn and she can stop a terrible prophecy more dangerous than the vampires and Alduin...
______________
Based on the Elder Scrolls Skyrim, what are you expecting from The Last Dragonborn? A story that reads less like a fan-fiction and more like its own self contained novel. This is accomplished by a few things. One, this isn't a shipper novel or trying to get characters in cheesy romances with each other. Two, this story actually takes itself seriously and expands on the serious tones and issues of Skyrim. Three, the story is more based on lore than the game itself, for example all the lore books. What I mean by that is Skyrim, or Tamriel in general, by lore, is much much bigger than actually represented in the games (due to engine limitations). So while the story may not seem 100% accurate to the video game itself, the in-game lore talks about battles and armies of thousands of soldiers when NPCs don't even peak over two hundred.

With that disclaimer out of the way, I hope you enjoy the story.

The Song of Deirdre Part I

15 parts Complete

Deirdre Morningsong returns to Skyrim seeking vengeance on the Nords who murdered her parents, only to be captured by Imperial soldiers who mistake her for a Stormcloak rebel. After escaping both the Imperial dungeons and the destructive return of the dragon Alduin, she resolves to discover what strange power is within her, and what the dragons have to do with it. Follows the main quest lines of the game, weaving them into a story of adventure and romance, with numerous twists on the canon. I'm hoping it's equally enjoyable for those who've played the game and those who haven't. Trigger warnings: rape is mentioned, one is attempted and prevented, but none are completed. Some other sexual assault. The first chapters are PG-13, but later ones become R-rated. (Feedback on appropriate ratings appreciated.) Skyrim is part of the Elder Scrolls series of games, copyright by Bethesda Softworks. The image for the book cover is from the game. I've only posted Part I here, but will soon post the rest (four parts total, 62 chapters). I've worked in nonfiction up to now because it's easier for me to describe places and events I can experience first-hand. I'm hoping that writing this fanfic will be a bridge to doing more of my own fiction.
